Down the levee of a small, Northern Californian town lives an attraction with enough thrill and enough cold water to make any hot summer day a fun one. The  20 foot tall and 150 foot long water slide careens riders down a drop, over a jump, and into a cooling splashdown.
The first slide was built in 2009 by my dad and 6-year-old me, and consisted of a single tarp down an incredibly bumpy and uncomfortable levee bank. Due to the slide's growing popularity within the community, we tried to make it more thrilling and higher quality each year. Today, the slide is a wooden chute that sits about five feet above the levee, with carpeting and two layers of tarp for maximum comfort.
Water for the slide is pumped from a well, so all water used eventually drains into the ground to be reused.
